How to “Gear Up” for the New Year

Is it just us, or has this year completely flown by? With 2021 coming to a close, 2022 is running toward us quickly. Chances are, you have big goals for the New Year and new ideas for your fitness business.

Instead of waiting for the New Year to act on these changes, what if you got ready so you could charge into 2022 ready-to-go? In this article, we’ll be exploring the different ways you can “gear up” so your fitness business can be super strong this year and how arketa can partner with you to help realize your goals!

Refresh Your Fitness Equipment

Did your cat claw-up your yoga mat? Are your dumbbells super dirty? Have you been using a scarf instead of a strap? The first part of gearing up is refreshing your gear. It’s easy to get used to used fitness equipment and forget to update it, but there’s nothing more fun than new workout accessories. It’s just like that new school supply feeling before the third grade.

Another fun idea to explore would be to see if you can partner with your favorite fitness brands. I’m sure you could score some free gear by pitching a partnership, promoting their brand, or displaying their accessories in your workout classes.

Switch up your background

When you started your fitness business, you probably put a mat down on your living room floor, moved the couch a tad, and turned on all of the lights. Now that you’re a bit more established, it’s time to create a fitness oasis. Check out our blog on how to create a great video workout for some tips.

Some fun things to add to your virtual studio are houseplants, aesthetic lights, and cool background paintings. Whatever feels right to you will help students feel that they’re right there in your studio with you.

Focus on your own fitness goals

Gearing up for the new year goes way deeper than just gear. It’s all about gearing up mentally. What do you want to accomplish in 2022? Do you want to grow your fitness business? Deepen your yoga practice? Help even more students build some muscle and get fit?

Take a moment to sit with your planner and jot down what you want to accomplish. Chances are, you have some awesome goals that just need a little extra thought so you can make a plan for how you’re going to achieve them.

Work on your mindset

Limiting beliefs are the antidote to growth when it comes to your fitness business. By focusing on what you’re currently overthinking, you can start to unravel some of the thought patterns that are holding you back.

A great place to start with mindset work is by carefully curating the content you digest. Buy books that build you up and read 15 pages every morning. Follow fun people on Instagram. Listen to podcasts that give you ‘aha’ moments. All of these things will contribute to a healthy, positive mindset.

Summing It Up

2022 is around the corner, so it’s time to get ready for it. By gearing up with new gear, setting up your goals, and working on your mindset -- you’re about to be unstoppable. Remember, your business and personal desires are 100% connected, so by putting energy into yourself, you’re putting your best energy into your fitness business.

Now go out there and make this an incredible year!
